The mobile app

Selfie Shifts lives in your staff's pocket: schedule, pick-ups, trades, time off, and the time clock — with notifications the moment anything changes. Available for Android, with the iPhone app on its way.

Staff log in with the email their manager added them with — the invite email includes a temporary password they replace on first login. One account works across every organization they work for.

The three tabs

Things worth teaching your crew

  1. Allow notifications when the app asks — that's how they hear about open shifts, schedule changes, and trade offers the moment they happen. The 🔔 bell in the app keeps the history if they miss a buzz.
  2. Shift trades: tap your shift → Propose a trade → pick a coworker with the same job → pick which of their shifts you want in exchange → send. They accept, decline, or counter once with a different shift — then it's settled and both schedules update.
  3. Time off lives under Profile: pick the first and last day, add a reason, send. The decision comes back as a notification.
  4. Clocking in (if the time clock is on): the big card at the top of My shifts. The app nudges anyone who forgets to clock out.
  5. The wall QR: scanning an open shift's QR code on the wall display claims it instantly — even if they're logged out, it completes right after login.

A TV in the staff area

There's also a TV display app for Amazon Fire TV and Android TV: it shows the schedule and rotates through what matters today, never sleeps, and comes back on its own after a power cut. Staff scan the QR codes it shows to claim open shifts from their phones. Two-minute install — see the TV display app page.

For managers on the go

Managers use the same app for their own shifts — and the mobile website is tuned for the rest: the schedule page on a phone has one-tap assign, and the bell, approvals, and announcements all work from a phone browser. The heavy planning tools (Shift Builder, the assistant) stay desktop-sized.

Owner tip: the App column on your staff list shows who's actually installed it. People without the app still get emails and text messages — but the app is faster for everyone, including you.
